Job Description

Social Media Lead
£37,870 per annum
Permanent, full-time
Based at Counting House, London Bridge

What the job involves

As part of the Digital team, you’ll be taking the lead on developing and implementing our social media strategy, including paid social media advertising. Over the past year, this has been a huge growth area for us as we engage the public to help us achieve our ambitious strategy Ten Years to Tame Prostate Cancer which aims to halve the projected number of men dying from prostate cancer by 2026.

Through social media, you’ll tell the stories of our supporters and the men and families they’re fighting for. Stories about the campaigners united to improve care for men with prostate cancer across the UK. And stories of our researchers, finding new answers that could lead us towards the next breakthrough test or treatment.

You’ll work closely and collaboratively with a range of colleagues across the organisation to get the best possible results from our social media channels. From raising awareness of the increased risk of prostate cancer in black men, to national fundraising events such as Jeff Stelling’s March for Men, to brand-building campaigns and truly engaging ways to rally passionate football, cycling, music, running, political and health communities to our cause, you’ll be involved with a range of exciting projects, all to strengthen our fight against the most common cancer in men.

What we want from you

You have excellent writing and editing skills, you get what works and what doesn’t on social media channels, and you’re a source of creative ideas for connecting with our supporters around sport, films, music, and other passion points. You have solid experience in organic social media campaigns and are adept at managing and optimising Facebook ads.

Having worked in a busy digital team before, you know how to balance competing priorities and use your experience and interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with a range of stakeholders. You’re confident providing expert advice to help other teams make better use of social media.

Why work for us?

We have a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.

Through shifting the science to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support, we can make prostate cancer a disease the next generation of men need not fear.

Be part of a team that will put an end to prostate cancer being a killer.

The working culture at Prostate Cancer UK is driven by the bold, energetic, collaborative and passionate people who work here. It’s a young team that welcomes innovation and creative thinking that helps the charity punch above its weight in a crowded market.

The support we’ll provide

Join our team and you’ll be working at an award-winning charity that will help you learn, develop your skills and expertise, and achieve your highest aspirations. We provide everything you’d expect from a professional organisation – competitive benefits package, contributory pension scheme, life insurance, childcare vouchers, and season ticket loan – but much more besides. Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we fight for a better future for men.
