We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our Audience Planning team.
This role will be responsible for bringing insight (audience, market, content & cultural) to, and developing creative strategies for, some of the BBC’s most thought-provoking impactful content: specifically the Specialist Factual genre (Natural History, Science, History and Religion etc) and BBC Two and Four.
BBC Planners work to put audience insight and strategy at the heart of the BBC’s output (programmes, products, services and brands). Planners provide creative leadership - clarifying objectives, driving action plans, articulating challenges in useful ways, spotting opportunities and thinking strategically about cultural, media and social trends - helping to inspire and direct the creative energy of what is one of the most creative businesses in the word.
The Senior Planner will work to embed audience understanding and strategic thinking in the creative process to help Controllers, Commissioners and editorial leads solve creative problems.
You will also work in collaboration with brand, product and marketing developing genre and content strategies to bring the best of BBC content to the world. You will need to be at the top of your game, managing a complex set of priorities to create impact and influence at a senior level.
As an expert in your field you will be expected not only to manage more junior planners, but also to provide creative leadership for the team and contribute to the development of Planning at the BBC.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful individual will be a strategic thinker with the ability to manage projects from conception to completion. This will include strong knowledge of media consumption and behavioural trends. You will have worked in a creatively led business at a senior level to develop audience-focused strategies. In addition you’ll have a solid understanding of how to understand and apply qualitative and quantitative research, develop creative stimulus, facilitate ambitious creative conversations and hone creative briefs.
Above all else, we’re looking for some who is passionate about media, TV and storytelling.
