Unique opportunity to join Crown Paints as Marketing Director UK

Based Darwen, Lancashire, NW, UK (will require occasional travel)

Salary competitive, plus highly attractive rewards package, including Bonus & Company Car

Our client, Crown Paints is an exceptional brand-leading business, a multiple-award winner and highly-recognised household name. It has manufactured quality, innovative paint and coatings products for over 200 years, being the Royal Warrant holder for the last 60 years. Following a recent game-changing merger with J.W. Ostendorf (JWO) creating 'Decorative Europe', Crown is now one of the largest and most ambitious decorative organisations in Europe, with around 2000 colleagues. This is an exciting, new era for Crown Paints and time to join this unique business. Being owned since 2011 by 'The Hempel Foundation', (a diverse, renowned coatings group with 7500 employees in 80 countries) sets Crown apart. As along with its parent, Crown Paints generously supports cultural, humanitarian, community and scientific causes across the world. 'At Crown - it's not just about paint - it's personal'.

Reporting to the Marketing Director of Decorative Europe, you will become ‘custodian’ of this well-known heritage brand - ‘Crown Paints’, including for its ongoing reputation and full Retail, Trade and Digital marketing portfolios in the UK. This rare opportunity in the NW market to join Crown Paints, offers a ‘dream’ diverse marketing remit to a proven Marketing Director or an exceptional Head of Marketing capable of ‘taking hold of the reins’. This newly-created Directorship role, will suit a commercially-focused marketing leader, with an up-to-date view of current influencers, media and digital platforms; offering leadership continuity and a style that will instil confidence, fresh energy and direction to the Crown Paints UK marketing team.

You will manage key stakeholder relationships at strategic European Group Board level and meet the competing demands of major DIY Retailer and Trade customers, with responsibility for a significant £multi-million marketing budget, ensuring compliance, project delivery and best practice. Being part of the Crown Paints UK Leadership team you will collaboratively develop company vison and long-term plans, most importantly you will implement strategy into action. You will lead the UK Marketing team, with 8 direct reports and an indirect team of 30+ highly-talented people, including customer-facing and innovative NPD Brand Managers, Creatives, Data Analysts, Colour Mixing Specialists and Digital Marketers. With your energy and ability to ‘spin many plates’ you will be able to direct priorities to deliver overall Marketing KPI’s and goals; using your strong planning and organisational skills to support, coach and motivate your team to deliver ‘excellence’.

We seek a creative and inspirational Marketing leader, with significant years’ experience as a ‘generalist’ senior Marketer, gained in large, ideally global company environments, (this must include having built ‘brands’ within major branded manufacturing companies; ideally ones that sell to major Trade or Retailer customers.) You will be educated to degree level, (ideally Business or Marketing related) and hold a CIM qualification or equivalent. Excellent communication, presentation and engagement skills are prerequisites. With your natural ‘people’ style, social awareness and ongoing desire to develop yourself further, you will fit into this exceptional culture. Crown Paints is still family orientated at heart, with the highest values and staff loyalty – it is a great place to work!

If you believe you have the qualities, style and proven level of experience necessary to succeed in this position, we are interested to hear from you quickly.
