About Combe Grove
The Combe Grove Estate is owned by the social enterprise charity, The Elmhurst Foundation.
The 64-acre estate includes the main Grade II listed Georgian house with a restaurant, a newly-refurbished retreat centre for residential courses and meetings, a wellness centre for prescriptive and relaxing treatments and a fitness centre with swimming pool in the former Coach House.
Combe Grove balances its commercial activity with big social objectives and supports a range of community-based and charitable activities. We are proud to employ local apprentices across the business, and strongly value our place in the community—working with local charities to strengthen our contribution to the social fabric locally.
We are shaping the estate into a health and wellness retreat in harmony with the environment, respecting our woodland location within an area of outstanding national beauty, re-invigorating the gardens and enhancing wildlife habitat, biodiversity and ecosystem health.
Key to our success is our committed and principled team, who share our values and are working together with strong purpose and intention to create all that Combe Grove is to become.
Overview of the role
We are looking for a Marketing and Sales Manager to join us on our journey to evolve Combe Grove.
Ideally you will be deeply passionate about the environment and looking for a role in a purposeful organisation where your concern for people and the planet fits and where your day-to-day work contributes to building a more sustainable world for all of us. If your passions also include holistic wellbeing and nutrition and a belief in the importance of craftsmanship even better.
We’ve got big plans, so we’re looking for someone who’s up for a challenge and is happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. You’ll need to have already achieved a certain level of success in your career, have real commercial know-how, and be flexible enough to work in an organisation that’s just finding its feet.
Maybe you feel it’s time for a career change and you’re ready to give something back—keen to pass on your knowledge and expertise and willing to nurture and develop a team of marketing and sales apprentices.
You may have a background in the hotel sector or experience organising events, weddings or retreats, but it’s not essential. As this role incorporates the sales function, you’ll need to be a confident communicator with a great customer focus and be comfortable driving sales revenue and profitability.
We’ll be looking to you to energise the marketing function and ‘walk the talk’—using your initiative and eye for detail to spot opportunities to promote our message and bring about change.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Your main duties would include:
- Develop marketing strategy, including mapping the customer journey
- Devise and manage marketing campaigns
- Research and integrate a new CRM database
- Apply a strong understanding of OTA, or willingness to learn
- Oversee website development
- Maximise marketing activity within the agreed marketing budget
- Manage and mentor up to eight apprentices
- Lead on growing the events programme
- Extend the community outreach programme
- Drive revenue and profitability
