Diabetes is the most potentially devastating – and fastest growing – health crisis of our time, requiring ongoing high-quality care and support. There are currently 4.5 million people in the UK living with diabetes, and 11.9 million more at increased risk of getting Type 2 diabetes. Those diagnosed face the risk of life-changing, and life-limiting, complications, unless they are given the very best care and the support they need to manage their condition well. As a society we need to work together now – and take action now – to fund critical research, improve healthcare and treatment, and prevent yet more people developing this potentially life-threatening condition. We have a vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm – if you’d like to be part of that, why not join us?
About the role
Our newly created Strategic Marketing team is dedicated to building a strategic and coherent approach to marketing and communications across the charity, which builds and deepens engagement with the public. To meet this goal, our work focuses on three pillars: marketing and communications planning and governance, integrated marketing campaigns, and supporter engagement strategies. Working in partnership with the wider charity, these three key areas will drive forward a dynamic new approach to how we reach and engage people about our charity’s work across all areas, including our research, campaigning, service delivery, volunteering and awareness-raising initiatives. As well as helping more people to get support from Diabetes UK, we also want people to understand the many ways they can give support to our cause and our charity’s vital work.
What we’re looking for
We need an exceptional marketing professional with strong technical expertise to lead our Strategic Marketing team and to drive forward the delivery of our strategy at a critical time. Working closely with the wider Engagement & Fundraising team, you will champion an integrated, insight-driven, audience-focused approach. With a proven track record of impact, you will be commercially minded, customer focused and data smart. You will be an inspirational leader with a natural ability to collaborate and influence to achieve organisational change. Importantly, you will have the confidence, ability and determination to lead a step-change that helps more people get the support they need, and motivates more people to join us in the fight against diabetes.
What we can offer you
• Generous annual leave starting at 25 days plus bank holidays
• A Cash Healthcare Plan (giving you up to £1,600 towards a range of out of pocket health expenses like new glasses, dentist, chiropractor or osteopath appointments)
• Early finish Friday and flexible working
• Discounts on gym membership and days out
• Employee assistance programme to give you support on any issues that come up in life
• Annual Season ticket loan
• Very active social scene including sport teams, gardening and other activities
• Generous pension provision, life assurance and permanent health insurance
If you would like to apply for this position you will need to provide the following:
• An up to date CV
• A Supporting Statement (no more than 2 x A4 pages).
Click the apply button and complete the application form to upload your CV and Supporting Statement. If not registered already you will be required to register on the i-appoint website.
Please ensure you address the essential criteria in your application’s supporting statement and send your form in good time to reach us by the closing date.
