Job purpose:

The Head of Marketing is responsible for leading the Marketing team and overseeing all of the marketing, communications and website collateral that the IAB produces.

The Head of Marketing will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer on the IAB’s overall marketing strategy and how we can become a more marketing-led organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop & nurture the Marketing team (six people) with line management of three managers, each responsible for web, communications (PR & copywriting) and marketing (graphic design & branding)
  • Foster collaboration between these specialisms, making the team’s output more joined up
  • Build a Marketing team that is the most creative and innovative team within the IAB
  • Manage the marketing / communications needs of other IAB departments (membership, policy regulatory standards, events, HR/Ops, research/measurement, industry initiatives)
  • Work with the Head of Events & Education to make the flagship IAB events more marketing-led (Leadership Summit, Engage, Upfronts, Digital Britain & Nonference)
  • Develop a marketing plan to support the IAB’s external training plan
  • Work closely with the CMO to think strategically about how the IAB uses marketing and communications to deliver on its vision and business objectives
  • Align what IAB UK says and how we look across all paid, owned & earned touchpoints
  • Develop a paid media strategy & plan to support event ticket sales and venue hire
  • Ownership of c. £400k annual Marketing budget
  • Develop a plan to grow engagement with our owned channels (social media, podcast, site)
  • Manage the writing & production process of The IAB UK Podcast
  • Drive a step change in the IAB's marketing output

Skills, knowledge & characteristics

  • Around 6 years’ experience of managing a high performing team
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of website management
  • Experience of reviewing and signing off copy & tone
  • Proven record of delivering stand-out marketing executions
  • Curious about the established way things are done and a will to do things differently
  • Strong understand of the digital advertising landscape
  • Exceptional eye for detail
  • Brand advertiser or agency experience preferable
