Can you help lead a team of award-winning marketers?

We’re looking for an opportunity for a digitally-savvy Head of Marketing (9-12m FTC maternity cover) to join our award winning team. In this role you’ll help to manage and develop the whole team, with a focus on our Primary and Teen marketing teams in particular.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a list that includes some of the biggest global brands and authors including Philip Pullman, Rick Riordan, John Green, Jennifer Niven, Malorie Blackman and Nicola Yoon, as well as breaking our exciting debut talent.You’ll represent a strong voice in the company and be able to establish yourself as a trusted expert for colleagues and contacts both within and outside the organisation. You’ll produce and manage creative integrated on and offline marketing campaigns with an emphasis on successful results, as well as keeping abreast of marketing ideas, developments and competitive activity to identify opportunities for engaging promotions.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Helping to manage the YA and Primary areas of the Children’s Marketing Team
  • Deputising for the Marketing Director, attending key meetings when necessary
  • Co-ordinating and managing department meetings and marketing team input and strategy within wider divisional meetings and ad-hoc projects
  • Planning and implementing all aspects of consumer marketing campaigns
  • Managing individual campaign budgets and helping to manage the overall marketing budget

To be considered for this role, you’ll be a creative thinker with relevant media experience, ideally in a children’s focused industry, plus excellent leadership qualities. The team are dedicated and hard-working so you’ll need to be as committed and passionate as they are. Proven marketing and management experience – preferably in a publishing environment and/or experience in the book trade or marketing – is a must. It goes without saying you’ll be passionate about connecting readers with stories.
