Group Account Director - Manchester

Our client is a leading player in the global marketing scene with a largely healthcare biased client base - they are growing exponentially and are looking for a highly successful GAD to join their Manchester business.

With a high level of autonomy, lead the following activity within your team. Work with and consult the SLT where appropriate.

Client Servicing
- Drawing on your established experience, develop and maintain strong relationships with key client contacts across all of the accounts your team work on. Ensure their satisfaction, retention and repeat business which has the scope to develop
- Develop an expert understanding of your client's business and vested interests. Work with them in partnership to ensure mutual gains
- Be proactive in identifying and converting opportunities to drive new business activity for your team. Consult the SLT as needed
- Play a pivotal role in pitch activity. Use your existing knowledge of the client and their industry to shape the strategic response. Direct and guide the internal team, ensuring that all elements of the brief are answered fully
- Be proactive in organising debriefs following pitches & large scale projects. Ensure feedback is delivered in a suitable way, taking forward key learnings
- Maintain a strong awareness of the progress of your team's projects within your accounts, proactively providing guidance and trouble-shooting when needed

Client Servicing

 Work with the CSD in optimising the growth and profit applications of your clients
 Support the CSD in the development of key cost proposals and oversee those that your team produce
 Oversee financial interactions on accounts, ensuring good financial health, revenue streams and billing practices, identifying financial issues with the CSD as appropriate
 Support the CSD in the education and direction of your Account Team in appropriate financial procedures, and ensure they take ownership for all costs associated with live campaigns
 Encourage those working on your accounts to do the same, whilst ensuring their understanding of why this is important
Team management and development
 Lead the development of the capability and professionalism of your team, actively developing them for roles of greater responsibility
 Ensure the appropriate delegation of tasks and responsibilities across the team
 Work to aid retention within your team and the wider agency, maintaining a high level of team moral and instilling a collaborative and inspirational culture
 Support the CSD in undertaking workforce planning for your team, in line with the client's forecasted needs
 Play an active role in recruitment for your team. Be involved in the selection process - review screening tasks, interview applicants and contribute to discussions of candidate suitability as needed
 Support the CSD in readily cascading wider Agency communications

Understanding the Agency
 Possess a thorough understanding and proactively share knowledge with regards to the capabilities of the Agency. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of previous campaigns and our existing credentials which can be readily shared with the various stakeholders of the agency
 Actively promote and utilise proprietary tools where appropriate, on existing business, while identifying new business opportunities
 Understand the roles and responsibilities of other Agency departments and manage their involvement in projects appropriately
 Ensure appropriate admin / briefing / scheduling procedures required by other Agency departments are understood and adhered to at all times

Industry knowledge and new learning
 Ensure that you keep up to date with relevant industry advancements and proactively share this knowledge with internal teams and clients as appropriate. Encourage your team to do the same
 Proactively maintain a strong awareness and apply your knowledge of relevant industry guidelines to the work you produce; including, but not limited to, the ABPI Code of Practice. Ensure that your team understands and adheres to relevant guidelines
 Encourage and ensure your team takes advantage of any relevant training opportunities. This can include internal training through the internal academy, and external opportunities to develop their knowledge such as industry events and conferences

Self-development
 Proactively pursue self-development and training opportunities, and actively work towards the achievement of your personal objectives
 Assume joint responsibility with your Line Manager for regularly reviewing performance and personal development
 Demonstrate a positive, professional, solutions orientated attitude at all times
