Job description

We’re urgently seeking an energetic and highly organised account manager, with ambition to lead a growing team, to join our busy life sciences advertising & PR agency.

Based in our central Manchester (UK) office, your primary purpose would be to look after our clients’ everyday advertising and marketing communications needs. You will build a trusting relationship with some of our key clients in the pharmaceuticals and chemicals industries. You’ll liaise closely with clients to plan and deliver their marketing campaigns, and offer new ideas and fresh insights to their marketing on a regular basis, including recommending how to engage young scientists using the latest B2C-style digital tactics. You’ll work alongside other Notch staff to brief our creative teams and ensure clients’ projects are delivered on time, and to budget. This role will suit an ambitious candidate wanting to drive significant campaigns and grow quickly into an account team leader.

 

Person specification

Essential skills

You must have a strong interest in branding, advertising and/or trade PR, at least twelve months’ marketing agency experience and a marketing or science-related degree. You will need fast learning abilities, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. As an account manager you will need to be enthusiastic about marketing communications and highly adaptive, being able to learn about new marketing trends and life science industries - often at short notice. You will also be a great multi-tasker, being comfortable with running multiple projects simultaneously across different teams.

Desirable skills

Digital marketing and social media expertise will be an advantage. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist but should have an interest in at least one life science, healthcare, materials science or chemistry-related discipline.

 

Principle tasks

  • Liaising on a daily basis with clients and creative teams
  • Taking a leading role in client meetings, including meeting preparation and follow-up
  • Presenting creative concepts and new campaign ideas to clients
  • Strategic planning and working with agency colleagues to devise branding, advertising and/or PR campaigns to meet client requirements
  • Campaign management and reporting
  • Budget setting and monitoring, to ensure projects are delivered on time and to everyone’s satisfaction
  • Writing creative briefs and liaising with project manager/creative/digital teams to deliver high quality projects, on time
  • Overseeing account executives’ duties, including contact reports and estimates.
